While exclusive pre-order bonuses are all too common among the big budget game releases, it’s not too often we see Nintendo arranging them for their first-party titles. However, retailer-specific pre-order bonuses have been revealed for the upcoming New Super Mario Bros. 2 in the US and the UK.
U.S. pre-orders placed through Gamestop will reward fans with gold Mario pin (seen above), while orders placed with GAME and Gamestation in the UK will come with the interesting Gold Coin Cartridge Case, pictured below. If you already pre-ordered you should also be entitled to these bonuses.
Unfortunately, the snazzy pin from Gamestop is only available to those who pre-order the game online and will not be available in stores, even if you pre-order there. Online customers can expect to receive their gold-colored pin (no, it’s not real gold) with their copy of the game when it ships in August alongside the new 3DS XL.
New Super Mario Bros. 2 launches on August 19th in the U.S. and August 17th in the UK. Keep in mind that the pre-order bonuses only come with physical copies of the game – if you purchase the downloadable version straight from Nintendo you won’t get it!
